• Added support for display of multiple-line file names on the palette tiles. File names now word wrap to fill the file name space defined by the tile format. Cool! A set of new formats is included with this release. Support for different font sizes from 7 to 18 pt has also been added.

Several key changes have been made to the user interface to reduce the reliance on key-click combinations for routine tasks:
• To access the popup Contents menu, simply click and hold the mouse down on a tile. To open the tile item, click and release as normal. To drag a tile, click and drag on the tile.
• To duplicate a tile during the drag, hold down the option key. To swap two tiles, hold down control key and drag one tile onto the other. To replace an existing tile icon with one being dragged from the Finder, hold down the control key.
• To access the popup Palette Contents menu, simply click and hold the mouse down on a tile containing a VersaTile palette file. To open the palette, click and release as normal.
• The popup Action menu is now limited to occassionally needed tile-specific commands. Palette-specific commands have been removed from the popup Action menu and placed in the Palettes menu.
Other features have been modified to make VersaTile easier to use:
• The popup Contents menu can now be accessed for any tile, not just folders. If the tile contains a folder, the Contents menu will show the folder's contents, it the tile contains a file, it will show the contents of the folder in which the file is located. The popup Contents menu is also hierarchical and will display items up to 5 levels deep.
• The VersaTile window now contains a true zoom box to resize the window. The horizontal and vertical orientation selection has been moved to the Palettes menu. The windows more closely resemble the standard System 7.5 windoid. Selecting a white titlebar color will give you the traditional System windoid for your palettes.
• The Palettes menu now shows all open palettes, as well as palettes saved in the VersaTile application folder. The menu also provides indications of which palettes are open, closed, or active and allows you to easily switch between palettes.
• Basic palette configuration options (orientation, titlebar and name area usage) have been placed in the Palettes menu for quick access.
• You can now create tile sets ( tile texture, tile format, font, and window titlebar color combinations) and select them from the Palette's menu to quickly change the look of a palette.
• A Hide Others option has been added to allow VersaTile to hide the other currently running applications when opening or switching applications.
• An "AutoOpen" mechanism has been added to allow VersaTile to automatically open designated palettes in response to other applications be opened, or VersaTile itself opening. A palette with a name beginning with a '+' with be opened whenever VersaTile is opened. A palette beginning with a '•' followed by the name of another application, will open whenever that application is opened either from VersaTile or the Finder ( the "Active Applications" palette must also be open for this option). All "AutoOpen" palettes must be saved in the same folder as the VersaTile application.
• With the Speech Manager extensions installed, VersaTile can now verbally acknowledge actions such as opening files, quitting applications, moving files, or switching applications.
• Dragging an item into the trash now only removes the item from the tile (it does not move the original object). If the item is dragged off the Active Application palette to the trash, the application also quits. Dragging tile items to the desktop has no effect.
• The Active Applications palette is now auto-sizing. It grows and shrinks as applications are opened and closed.
• A handy notes area has been added.
• Palettes can now be repositioned by dragging on the name area, or on the window's frame.
• A small grow box has been added to palettes without a name area.
• The background color on the dialog boxes has been lightened for easier viewing on Notebook Macs.
